Free Trade is not trade. It is primarily
based on moving production from place to place based on the cheapest labor markets of the world. Human beings are the main
commodities being traded. The value of work can be balanced and recycled in Local Value Added Economies.

be canonized by Pope Benedict. Padre Alberto Hurtado led the way for workers dignity in Chile fifty years ago. His influence
is now global. He became a Saint faster than any Jesuit in history. ( His inspiration was Jacque Maritain, the
great Philosopher of our times, who wrote about community and human dignity in the work day.

THE REAL WORLD: USA has gone
....through the most massive dislocation of jobs in its history.
Unemployment rate has been over 15% compared to the 1970s, plus at least 4 Million are missing
in action from any kind of reporting .......
Oct. 2002- The Bureau of Labor Statistics confirmed
that at least 4 million workers are missing in action having given up looking for work. (It is actually much higher than this
- here is how the BLS obtains its unemployment information.
...The U.S. Labor Dept. actually has 6 different categories used
to report the unemployment rate. The media only gives the one that shows the lowest rate. It they reported the U-6 series,
it would show an over 10% unemployment rate. U-6 includes discouraged job seekers, marginally attached workers and forced
part-timers. Overall, it is impossible to compare the unemployment rate with the past since primarily only full time jobs
with benefits were reported in the past. Part-time work was usuallly a separate category. Today, even a person making only
a $100 a month is considered employed. Also the unemployment rate was formerly based on unemployment insurance but now
since only 40% of all workers nationally qualify for unemployment, the Bureau of Labor Statistics changed their methods
and poll about 50,000 households a month to get their results. So when a political leader states that we
have the lowest unemployment rate in 20 to 30 years, this is not true since the methods are completely different.
When a BSL poll taker calls a household , they ask the person anserwing the phone if they were looking
for a job in the previous month. If they say no, they are considered employed. If a person says they are helping out in the
family business or on a family farm without pay while seeking a job, they are considered employed. If they say they are a
consultant or have a side business while seeking a job, they are considered employed. (In high tech, many of the unemloyed
call themselves consultants until they find a job.)
In addition, temporary jobs, day labor, contract, leased, part time etc are all considered jobs these
days even if the person is hardly making any income. 60% of all workers do not work long enough or make enough money in any
given period to qualify for unemployment insurance. For this reason, the Bureau of Labor Satistics said they had to find a
new way to count the unemployment rate and could not depend on the unemployment insurance offices for their reporting. Get
America Working Forum says that 50% of U.S. human resources are not being used.

Over 4 million workers are missing in action from any kind
of unemployment reporting. Millions go from temporary job to temporary job unable to find full time work. We believe that
the number missing in action is much more than the 4million the Labor Department says there is.
If one counts all over 18 years old who are healthy and who could be working but are not,
one finds that almost half of our nation's human resources is not being used. Millions who are not part of any grouping are
non-existent as far as any reporting of their status.
How can an reasonable unemployment rate be gathered? And the underemployed population
is ignored in any reporting too. Only about 88 million Americans have full time jobs. About 50 million have only part time
ones with about 14 million working 20 hours or less per week. Another 50 million are in limbo outside of any reporting. This
is out of a population of over 280 million.
** A Canadian forum reported that if Canada used the same methods as the USA uses for unemployment satistics, Canada
would have only 1% unemployment. The study cites The Council of International and Public Affairs, stating the real U.S. unemployment
during the 1990s was 11.4% if properly calculated --- (If compared to the reporting methods 30 years ago , the rate would
be much higher than even that.)
NEED REAL JOBS AND NOT WARS!

Tapart News Editor began this study over ten years ago. Now the general media is starting to confirm much of it. CNN has
a program showing how our unemployment rate is about 12% and not 6%. Lou Dobbs has an excellent Exporting America series
confirming much of what has been recorded here. Personal and business bankruptcies keep breaking records, it is important
to note that they broke all time records in 1995 and 1998 when our nation supposedly was enjoying a statistical prosperity.
The Liberal media did not report all this back then. Others reported that 40% of all young blacks in the inner city did not
have a job back then. 50% of all U.S. human resources were not being used. We also now have a record breaking prison population.
In 1998, millions lost their jobs and there was record breaking companies closing down as noted in our reports at this site.
Over 250,000 lost their jobs in high tech alone. Many cities who had enjoyed the high tech revolution in the beginning lost
most of these companies soon after. It was stupid to have Research and Development and then send the jobs outside the USA.
Both the Democrats and Republicans hid these statistics from the public. It must be noted too that it was a Democratic President
and a Democratic controlled Congress that passed both NAFTA and GATT in a Lameduck session called by President Clinton even
though the new Young Republicans won the election based on Gingrich's Contract to America. President Bush joined hands with
Clinton when he took office in the "bombing" of the American worker. NAFTA and GATT acted and still does act as
a Pearl Harbor Attack on American workers and now workers everywhere by passing Fast Tract while everyone was concentrating
on terrorism and the war...see this topic at this site too.

BUSH'S 'JUST WAR' IS LACED WITH HYPOCRISY------------

Applied ethics Professor Paul Lauritzen's Forum article "War must be the last resorts" (Sept 27) focused on Michael Water's
criteria that military pre-emptive (war) is morally justifiable "whenever the failure do so would seriously risk" the territorial
integrity or political independence of the pre-empting state.
No
where does Lauritzen note that, in using this criteria, Saddam Hussein would have every right to launch a pre-emptive
strike against the United States..... The main ethical question about war with Iraq is whether or not "we the people"
will demand that our government behave according to the same standards it attempts to impose by overwhelming force on others.
The U.S. Government created both Saddam and Bin Laden. The Iraq
/ Iranian war followed. British interests sold Iraq the basis of his biological and chemical weapons programs,
( where and how did of the weapons of mass destruction originate? And the United States trained
a whole generation of would-be terrorists to wage war in Afghanistan ( when they were fighting the Soviets, - however
back then they were called "freedom fighters".)
Our current terrorist problems are the direct result of out thoughtless
response to our last generation of problems. If we fail to recognize this and to confront our real problems- a political process
that Bill Moyers called "legalized bribery" a chemical dependency of the oil and money of Saudi Arabia, - a shabby and inane
intellectual culture and a press that ignores this and treats official handouts like news - we are bound to create a generation
of new and improved threats that will, just coincidently, futher destroy both our standard of living and our civil rights.
The "axis of evil" is a ruse to distract attention away from the looting of
the American economy ...( the real war is about jobs and the workday ... and the militarization
of American society (suspension of civil rights), violation of the Posse Comitatus Act- The only "just war" the American people

and Free Trade and it is coming our way. It is time to prepare for the post -Globlization era. History tells us what happens

Elizabeth Sullivan, Asst Editor and Expert on International Relations for the Cleve Plain Dealer, says that attacking
Iraq would betray U.S> principles and actually help topple "freindly" pro-Western and secular Arab states. She says,
"The truth is that Iraq is vulnerable, and Saddam is hateful, and the two together form a perfect target for the mix of CIA
dirty tricks, high tech gizmos and commando raids that Pentagon planners hope to apply as part of a new pre-emptive
war policy.....Saddam is the perfect foil to show other potential evil-doers they better fall in line with U.S. wishes or
else". Now is it more difficult than ever discerning the real issues for going to war and anticipating post war effects. (

Can Gingrich and the Republicans keep their promises-
and should they?

As a Conservative, I apologize to the American worker (for Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh
(Limbaugh was instrumental in the elections of the new Contract with America Republicans.) Soon they will be promising a chicken
for every pot and telling us to be happy. Maybe Gingrich will add it to the "contract".
What they don't understand is that many of us came out of the woodwork (to vote) because
the option of being "Clintonized" was too much to handle. We were against the new GATT because we were against the old GATT
that exported our jobs and industries. Anyone who has dealth with this end of things knows that our American idea if fair
play doesn't happen in many foreign countries.Anyone who has been on either side of a strike line knows nothing gets resolved
by moving the jobs outside the USA. It seem both Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh have a problem in defining what human dignity
is all about
Those who feel Limbaugh betrayed them by hiding his real feelings about the GATT
trade agreement until after the election should drop a note to his sponsors and the radiio station to tell them to boycott
their products. Then we conservatives would like to reach out to the workers of America and offer an alliance of solidarity
until this terrible "Big Money" thing stops stealing the Ameriacn Dream from us. In the meantime, the Republicans can stuff
their 'Contract with America'. GATT should have been part of it.

was passed in a Lameduck session even though the Republicans had won the House- Clinton joined hands with Dole and Gingrich
Republicans in betraying the American workers.-- President Bush followed in 2000 and passed Fast Track which in effect made

Clinton. Gingrich and Dole joined hands in passing GATT. The new Republicans won the House just weeks earlier. GATT was never
discussed as part of the "Contract with America". It turned out to be a "contract" that created a working poor class
in the USA. On the same day , Ann Landers reported a massive retaliation of readers after she said all one has
to do when they lose their job is just to get another one. She had one of the largest mail responses ever from the angry unemployed
who were looking of jobs for months and even years without success. During this time, Rush Limbaugh was a focal point in the
election of the new "Contract with America" Republicans. He stayed away from the GATT topic until the last week or so
before the vote and then endorsed GATT. Dole said that it seemed everyone in his state was against it but he was going
to vote for it anyway. The sell out of the American workers and the American Dream was set in place by a Democratic
President, a Democratic Congress joining with Republicans as if they were all one.
It seems the New World Order conspiracy theories were no longer just theories.
